A Practice Report On Omission Strategy In Chinese-English Simultaneous Interpreting Of China High Speed Railway From The Perspective Of The Effort Model

With the rapid development of cutting-edge technology and increasingly close exchanges between countries,more and more people begin to focus on cutting-edge technological breakthroughs and the latest hot spots in science and technology.Science and technology have no borders,and China has a pivotal position in science and technology in the world.Among them,China’s high-speed railway has developed the way of innovation and development with a new attitude.It is an urgent task and challenge for film and television translation to record the individual and group images that promote the scientific and technological innovation of China’s railways,strengthen and build up national confidence,and send the science and technology with Chinese characteristics abroad.This is practice report on simulated Chinese English simultaneous interpreting.The source language material is the second and third episode of the documentary China High Speed Rail.The documentary tells about a series of major breakthroughs made by Chinese builders in the field of cutting-edge technology,from line projects such as bridges,tunnels and ballastless tracks to traction power supply and train operation control systems,from individuals,enterprises to governments and country,showing the overwhelming development of high-speed railway.In the simultaneous interpreting of scientific texts,source language is usually complicated which needs to be clarified.However,distribute too much energy in the target language may lead to missing key information and the missing translation of the target language.Therefore,this paper chooses Gile’s the Effort Model as a theoretical guide to alleviate this contradiction through Omission strategy.This paper interprets the corpus through the way of simultaneous interpreting.By skipping omission,understanding omission,lagging omission and compound omission,the task of interpretation is completed,and transcript texts and translated texts are used as analysis materials to study omission strategy used in translation.It is of great significance to improve the efficiency and energy distribution in the simultaneous interpreting by using the omission strategy,and also to provide reference for the future interpretation process.
