Abstract/Summary:
Kenzaburo Oe,a Japanese post-war existentialist writer, won the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1994 and won a great literary reputation. At that time, scholars at home and abroad have carried out in-depth research on Oe Kenzaburo himself and his literary works. However, domestic scholars’ interpretation of Oe Kenzaburo’s literature is still insufficient. The theme of Oe Kenzaburo’s literary creation constantly presents a trend of change. In his early years,he focused on the existential crisis after the war;in the middle years,he began to pay attention to marginal culture;and in his later years,Oe Kenzaburo paid attention to the theme of spiritual and soul self-salvation.Therefore,this thesis focuses on Oe Kenzaburo’s self-redemption theme, based on "somersault" from three aspects of existentialism, humanitarianism and atheist self-redemption to discuss. In addition to the introduction and conclusion, the main part of this thesis is divided into three parts. The first part,"Self-destruction of the malfunction",based on Sartre’s existentialist philosophy, discusses the reasons and phenomena of the self-destruction of the characters in his literary work "Slip".First of all, from the point of view of the free world in the material world people dying in the flesh, and use of metaphor and symbol to highlight the performance of twisted sense;Secondly, from the perspective of the self-world,people ignore the lack of their spiritual belief when they are greatly enriched in material, and they sink into their own utopian world without realizing it,which is a kind of sick living condition. The second part,"the self-perception of the undead",mainly discusses that the "undead" people try to escape the excessive self-destruction in the fantasy, but they still have the ability of self-perception at this time. This ability to perceive is partly due to one’s own subjective initiative, while the other is due to the passive influence of the surrounding crowd and environment.Although the two ways are different, they both enable people to perceive the existence of self-worth and get rid of self-destruction to find the right path of self-salvation while getting self-recognition.The third part,"the new man’s self-redemption",focuses on the analysis of the characters in the "flip" to carry out self-redemption.Throughout the full text, this can be the end of the main characters from the two angles to illustrate how to death and survival self-salvation,first of all, death is the end of your life, work in character in the face of death produced a variety of different reactions, from fear to open finally to death,it is a thought on mature attitude;Secondly,it discusses the two ways of self-salvation from the perspective of survival. The failure of the flip makes Oe realize that the religious salvation is a meaningless behavior, and finally he realizes that only himself can be saved, and the emergence of the "new man" is a kind of replacement of the old and the new,but also a product and development of The Times. The new religious thought is undoubtedly a new way of self-salvation.Through the above investigation,we can find that under the influence of existentialism,Oe Kenzaburo was constantly exploring and thinking about ways and methods of self-salvation.He also often felt that it was his responsibility to teach future children, expecting them to constantly develop to change and improve the future of the society, the country, the nation and all mankind.
