Report On C-E Interpretation Of Roadbed Construction Technology Under The Guidance Of Interpretive Theory

With the promotion of the "One Belt and One Road" initiative,exchanges in various fields between China and countries along the Belt and Road are increasing day by day.The dramatic improvement of China’s infrastructure capacity has made the construction industry a popular area for exchanges between countries.This is an English interpretation report on Chinese roadbed construction lecture of technical training.The author was entrusted by Sichuan Jielongchenghui construction Labor Service Co.,LTD to complete a consecutive interpretation during May 16,2020 to May 18 2020.Due to COVID-19,the lecture was held via online video.Interpretive theory holds that interpretation is a dynamic psychological process with meaning understanding and expression as the core.In this process,the initiative of the interpreter plays a very important role.Under the guidance of the interpretive theory,the author makes thematic knowledge reserve from the perspective of understanding the meaning of the source language.These preparations mainly include learning the theory and principle of construction technology through the textbooks of specialized courses in colleges and universities;deepening knowledge understanding by construction animation and on-site photos and videos shared on engineers and construction workers’ online accounts;solving professional problems that cannot be solved by consulting the construction staff.With the help of these preparations,the author successfully completes the interpretation task.After that,the author invites senior interpreters and clients who worked together to evaluate the quality of the author’s interpretation.Having completed the interpretation,under the guidance of the theory of interpretation,the author analyzes and reflects on the problems of the interpretation,so as to gain experience and inspiration based on the three records and the evaluation results.In addition,the author also analyzes and summarizes some practical interpretation skills from the listening and understanding,note taking and short-term memory as well as production and reorganization of interpretation.These skills include anticipation and association by context and knowledge reserve;notes assistance by engineering symbols and legends on CAD software;logical reorganization and appropriate omission on large paragraphs of scientific oral Chinese.With the analysis of this interpretation practice,the author expects to provide above suggestions and skills for the interpreters engaged in roadbed construction in the future.
