A Report On The Simulative E-C Simultaneous Interpreting For “Artificial Intelligence Symposium” Under The Guidance Of The Principle Of Economy

Advances in state-of-the-art science and technology require global exchanges and communication,raising public awareness of the significance of international sci-tech conferences.At the meantime,featured with intensive information,highly professional language and fast speech rate,sci-tech simultaneous interpreting sets higher demands for interpreters.Under the guidance of the Principle of Economy,this report explores appropriate techniques for the interpreter to meet communicative requirements,and,meanwhile,achieve the speaker’s and the auditor’s economy in simultaneous interpreting.By analyzing major difficulties in the simulative E-C simultaneous interpreting on “HAI: 2019 Human-Centered Artificial Intelligence Symposium”,the author discusses how to use conciser target language to transfer adequate information to meet communicative requirements in E-C sci-tech simultaneous interpreting.The author details eight techniques: abbreviating,substitution by pronoun,using hypernym,conversion of part of speech,negation translation,idiom borrowing,compression and omission,and analyzes the application of these techniques in practice combining with specific examples.It is hoped that this report could provide inspirations and suggestions to simultaneous interpreting learners.
