| The source text is excerpted from An Invitation to Feminist Ethics written by Dr.Hilde Lindemann. This book consists of two parts: a particular overview of feminist ethics and a close-up of three most concerned hot issues by feminist ethicists.Based on the chapter 7,the translator finishes the report which includes four chapters.Chapter 1is an overview of the project, including the selection of the ST,the introduction to it and the significance of translation practice.Chapter 2 presents the whole process of the project, from the preparations to final editing.Chapter 3 is case analysis, which is considered as the heart of the thesis.Guided by the Functional Equivalence Theory, the translator applies such four methods as conversion, omission, division and reordering to solve the difficulties in dealing with words and compound sentences,so as to achieve the functional equivalence at the lexical level and syntactic level. Finally,Chapter 4 is a conclusion to the gains from this practice and some shortcomings to be improved in the future. |
