Research On The Influence Of The Residual Claim On The Participation Of Owners Of Ethnic Cultural Resources In Development And Protection

Based on the residual claim theory,this paper uses case study method to investigate the impact of residual claims on the participation of owners of ethnic cultural resources in the development and protection of this resources.The Longji Terraced Fields Scenic Area in Guangxi was selected as the case study site of this paper,and a total of 202 villagers were interviewed in seven representative and well developed villages in the scenic area: Jinkeng Village,Zhuangjie Village,Tiantou Village,Xin Village,Huangluo Village,Guzhuang Village and Ping An Village.In case study,this paper begins by analyzing whether the owners of ethnic cultural resources possession the residual claims in Longji Terraced scenic area of Guangxi.Secondly,it starts the participation of ethnic cultural resources owners in development and protection.Thirdly,it starts the impact of having residual claims on the participation of ethnic cultural resource owners in development and protection.This analysis involves the following three aspects: seven villages,two ethnic groups,and eight ethnic cultural tourism products.Based on the residual claim theory and the above case study,this paper has the following results.On the one hand,the owners of ethnic cultural resources in Longji Terrace Scenic Area of Guangxi possess residual claims.It is because of their possession of residual claims that they participate in development and protection.On the other hand,different possession of residual claims has different effects on the participation of the owners in the development and protection of Longji Terraced Fields in Guangxi.The conclusion is that the possession of residual claims has an impact on the owners’ participation in development and protection,and different types of residual claims result in varying effects.The research results have practical implications for Guangxi Longji Terrace scenic spot,and for other ethnic minority areas regarding the development and protection of the ethnic culture resources.The results could be seen as suggestions for the scenic spots to provide the owners of ethnic cultural resources with the residual claims,so as to enhance the competitive advantage of tourism in ethnic regions.It could also have positive effects on the economic development of ethnic tourism and achieve sustainable development of ethnic tourism.In sum,this paper has certain reference significance to the development and protection of ethnic minority cultural resources.
