The plan of health China 2030 shows that China has elevated health to a new level.An important means to achieve the goal of national health is to carry out health communication,which has also become an important part in people’s daily communication.This translation practice is an E-C translation of the fifth chapter of Health Communication Strategies and Skills for a New Era.The source text belongs to texts of Social Science,mainly introducing relevant knowledge about health communication.The book includes quite a number of terms,as well as many compound and complex sentences.And the passive voice is widely used in the source text.In order to make sure the target text can convey the same meaning and style as the original text,as well as can adapt to Chinese expressive conventions,the author has chosen Adaptation Theory as the guidance framework.The report analyzes this translation practice from the angle of the structural objects of adaptability of Adaptation Theory.It is found that translators should make appropriate linguistic choice and adopt the translation techniques and methods flexibly,such as free translation,amplification,conversion of parts of speech,rearrangement of word order,conversion of voice,etc.The purpose of doing so is to guarantee the target text can convey the same meaning and style as the original text does.The findingss of this report could have important enlightenment for translation of texts in the field of health communication and relevant fields.
