| English learning burnout is a phenomenon of physical and mental exhaustion,which caused by students’ lack of interest or confidence in English learning process.Making a profound study of English learning burnout is helpful for educators to know the problems and causes of students’ English learning burnout,and then implement effective strategies.At present,scholars studying English learning burnout at home and abroad mainly focus on college students and high school students,and paying less attention to junior school students.However,as a relatively special group,junior school students are experiencing physiological and psychological changes,and facing great learning pressure.In this situation,it easily leads to the problem of learning burnout.Therefore,it is urgent to know and analyze the current situation and causes of English learning burnout on rural junior school students,and strive to explore and solve the problems of English learning burnout about rural junior school students.With the examples of Y and Z middle schools in Weinan of rural schools,the study investigates the situation of English learning burnout among 300 students in two middle schools.The study was carried out by questionnaire and interview.Two questions were researched: First,what is the current situation of English learning burnout about rural junior school students? What are the differences in gender,grade and English achievement?Second,what are the specific factors causing English learning burnout of rural junior school students? Through the analysis of questionnaire and interview,the following conclusions are drawn that: Firstly,English learning burnout is a common problem among rural junior school students,and the overall degree of burnout is not serious.Secondly,there is no significant difference of English learning burnout of rural junior school students in gender,but there are significant differences in grade,and the degree of English learning burnout increases with grade.And there are significant differences of English learning burnout of rural junior school students in English achievement,and the degree of burnout of students with low score is higher than that of students with high score.Thirdly,the causes of English learning burnout on rural junior school students are caused by parents,students,teachers and schools,which are mainly manifested in their parents’ education and management style;The limitations of students’ English learning;Teachers’ education and teaching management style and schools’ environment.Based on the above conclusions and combining with a series of situation and causes of English learning burnout of rural junior school students in questionnaire and interview,some suggestions are put forward to improve the English learning burnout of rural junior school students: Firstly,stimulate students’ interest in English learning and enhance their confidence in learning English;Secondly,optimize classroom teaching and improve learning efficiency;Then,improve teaching conditions and change educational concepts;Finally,enhance home-school cooperation and communication,and create a good learning atmosphere. |
