Nowadays,there are some problems in English reading teaching,such as lacking of real context and situation-based practical activities,only taking vocabulary and grammar as the main line and so on.In order to solve the problems and change the situation,The New Curriculum Standard for Senior High School(2017 edition)puts forward the Perspective of Activity-based English Learning.It stresses that the basic form of English learning is activity,that is,learners learn and accumulate language knowledge through a series of interrelated and logical activities,such as learning and comprehension,application and practice,transference and innovation,and use knowledge to understand and express,which provides a new way for the design and implementation of English reading teaching.This study mainly addresses three research questions:(1)What are the effects of the Perspective of Activity-based English Learning on students’ English reading performance?(2)What are the effects of the Perspective of Activity-based English Learning on students’ transference and innovation ability?(3)What are the changes of students’ interest and attitude towards English reading learning after the application of the Perspective of Activity-based English Learning?The whole research process covered two rounds of action research,which lasted for three months.The subjects are the 53 students from class 13,Grade 7 in a junior high school in Shenyang.Each round of action research includes identifying the problems,making the action plan,implementing the action plan and reflection and evaluation.The researcher studied the results through questionnaires,classroom observation,interviews and tests.Data of questionnaire and tests was analyzed by SPSS 26.0.The researcher interviewed students to investigate their interest and attitude towards English reading.In addition,classroom observation runs through the whole research process.According to the analysis of the data,the following conclusions are drawn.Firstly,the Perspective of Activity-based English Learning has a positive impact on students’ reading performance.Secondly,students’ transference and innovation ability has been improved.Thirdly,the Perspective of Activity-based English Learning stimulates students’ interest in learning,and more and more students attach importance to the learning of English reading.However,due to the time limitation and some other reasons,there are still some deficiencies,for example,the small sample and the short time.Therefore,the researchers and teachers need to make more efforts to the further improvements in the future studies. |
