As one of the most outstanding poets in the Liu Song period,Xie Lingyun have had a profound impact on the history of later generations of poetry.Poets and critics of the past dynasties have receipted his poems to varying degrees.Among them, the reception of Xie Lingyun’s poems in the Ming dynasty is quite impressive.Continuing with the literary retro thought trend in the Ming Dynasty, the reception of Xie’s poems in the Ming Dynasty has made a qualitative leap compared with the previous generations in terms of text and theoretical criticism. On account of the prominent features of the reception of Xie’s poems in the Ming Dynasty, this paper attempts to analyze and discuss it as comprehensively as possible. There are three chapters in this paper. The first chapter takes a holistic view of the reception of Xie’s poems in the Ming Dynasty. It mainly discusses the poetic background and historical stage of the reception of Xie’s poems in the Ming Dynasty. It also discusses several prominent issues in the reception of Xie’s poems in the Ming Dynasty, including the influence of Yan Yu’s Canglang Poetry on the reception of Xie’s poems in the Ming Dynasty, and the discussion on the judgment which said that the creation method of ancient style poetry has died out after Xie and so on.The second chapter investigates the sorting and selecting Xie’s poems and finding the Xie’s poetry texts which has been scattered and disappeared in the Ming Dynasty.Firstly, from the perspective of reading history,it investigates the dissemination of Xie Lingyun’s poems in the early Ming Dynasty when there is no complete collection of Xie’s poems.Secondly,it investigates the compilation of Xie’s poems in the Ming Dynasty, focusing on the work of the compilation of the Xie’s poems which has been though to be lost for a long time by the people of Ming Dynasty.Thirdly,it investigates the reception of Xie’s poems in Li Panlong’s Ancient and Modern Poetry Deletion,Zhong Xing,Tan Yuanchun’s Shi Gui,and Lu Shiyong’s Shi Jing. This three anthologies of ancient poems in the Ming Dynasty are representative. The third chapter is a case study of the reception of Xie’s poems in late Ming Dynasty.Three typical figures who recepted Xie’s poems, including Wang Shizhen,Hu Yinglin and Xu Xueyi, are selected to try to explore the influence of Xie Lingyun’s poetry on individual poetry critics in late Ming Dynasty in a more thorough and comprehensive manner. After the author’s investigation, the reception of Xie’s poems in the Ming Dynasty was deeply influenced by the ancient ideas and retro thoughts in the literature of the Ming Dynasty. It was still in a quiet state from Hongwu to Chenghua, and then gradually began to prosper from Hongzhi and Zhengde. However, the reception of Xie’s poems in the Ming Dyansty was positive on the whole. There are few literary critics completely denied Xie’s poems like previous generations. At the same time, the poetics of the Ming Dynasty was deeply influenced by Yan Yu’s Canglang Poetry. In the reception of Xie’s poems, people in the Ming Dynasty also absorbed and criticized Yan Yu’s views. After He Jingming proposed that "the creation method of ancient style poetry has died out after Xie",people in the Ming Dynasty have launched fierce controversy around this topic, which together constitute the unique style of the reception of Xie Lingyun’s poems in the Ming Dynasty. In terms of the text, the sorting and selecting the Xie’s poems and finding the Xie’s poetry texts which has been scattered and disappeared for a long time are more prosperous than the previous generations in the Ming Dynasty. The collection of Xie’s poems has been reorganized on a large scale in the Ming Dynasty after being scattered and lost in the Song Dynasty.Xie Lingyun’s poems often occupies an extremely prominent position in the voluminous anthologies of ancient poems in the Ming Dynasty. This is not only an important aspect of the reception of Xie’s poems, but also laid a good foundation for the reception of Xie’s poems in later generations. In the process of analyzing the reception of Xie Lingyun’s poems in late Ming Dynasty,we can see that the reception of Xie’s poems in the Ming Dynasty is gradually deepening.Different from the partial criticism of Xie Lingyun’s poems by the Qianqizi and the great admiration for Xie’s poems by the Six Dynasties,Wang Shizhen,Hu Yinglin,Xu Xueyi and others’ reception of Xie’s poems was more similar to a rational research state in late Ming Dynasty, which entered the stage of poetics summarize.Based on summarizing and integrating previous poetics, they conducted the research on Xie Lingyun’s poems.A more systematic and distinctive study and evaluation has been made, which is a satisfactory conclusion for the reception of Xie’s poems in the Ming Dyna sty.It can be said that the reception of Xie’s poems in the Ming Dynasty has become more in-depth,detailed and objective, which is undoubtedly a big leap compared with the reception of Xie’s poems in the previous generations.
