This report is based on consecutive interpretation of the academic lecture “Several Issues of Translation Study in the New Era” delivered by Professor Xu Jun.The lecture discusses several issues of translation study,which highlights the essence and importance of translation.The task of the interpreter is to interpret this academic lecture,conveying all the information accurately and vividly to the audience.The interpretation of the lecture is carried out under the guidance of Gile’s Effort Models Theory,which helps the interpreter choose interpreting strategies and tactics,coordinate energy and attention distribution and reduce the burden of executive capacity so as to improve interpreting quality and efficiency.The report consists of five chapters.The first chapter is Task Description,which introduces the relevant information of this interpreting task,including background information,features of source language and analysis of target audience.The second chapter is Process Description,which describes preparation,interpreting practice and after-interpreting reflection.The third chapter is Theoretical Framework,which generally introduces the main ideas of Gile’s Effort Models Theory and its three basic models,then analyzes its relevance to the interpreting practice.The fourth chapter is Case Analysis.In terms of the accent and dialect of the speaker,short-term memory as well as long and difficult sentences,it discusses interpreting strategies and tactics,such as segmentation,note-taking and omission.The fifth chapter is Conclusion,which summarizes the experience,achievements,and limitations of the interpreting practice. |
