There are a large number of modality adverbs in Chinese. As a small category of modality adverbs, speculative modality adverbs are mostly used to show the speaker’s subjective speculation, which can slow down or strengthen the tone and help the speaker express better,To achieve communicative intentions."Bieshi"(别是)and"Biebushi"(别不是)in this article are a group of speculative mood adverbs with opposite forms but the same meaning.Judging from the collected literature, although there are case studies or comparative analysis of"Bieshi"(别是)and"Biebushi"(别不是),most of them are simple and in-depth analysis.Especially as to why the two formats with the same meaning can exist at the same time, and the reasons for the differences in personality between the two are rarely discussed. Therefore, based on previous research results, the author takes"Bieshi"(别是)and"Biebushi"(别不是)as the research object, and describe it at two levels:diachronic and synchronic. On the basis of combing the commonalities, the author strives to explore the relationship between the two.Differences,in order to enrich the research results of speculative mood adverbs, provide some enlightenment for the study of similar language phenomena, and also provide research ideas for some cases. The second part is the main body of this article, mainly including the first, second, third and fourth chapters. The first part is the introduction, which mainly covers the reasons for the topic selection, research significance, research methods and corpus sources, and combs the domestic research status of speculative modality adverbs and speculative modality adverbs"Bieshi"(别是)and"Biebushi"(别不是).The second part is the main part of this article, mainly including the first, second, third and fourth chapters. The first chapter is a comprehensive analysis of the syntactic performance of"Bieshi"(别是)and"Biebushi"(别不是),and elaborated separately from three aspects:syntactic position,co-occurrence of vocabulary, and choice of sentence category. The author finds that"Bieshi"(别是)and"Biebushi"(别不是)have more commonality than individuality in syntactic analysis, and the difference is mainly reflected in the grammatical position and co-occurrence components. The second chapter mainly analyzes the semantic characteristics of"Bieshi"(别是)and"Biebushi"(别不是),and summarize the semantic background of"Bieshi"(别是)and"Biebushi"(别不是),and get the semantic background structure pattern of"Bieshi"(别是)and"Biebushi"(别不是).In analyzing the semantic analysis of"Bieshi"(别是)and"Biebushi"(别不是),the author found that there are subtle differences in semantic features between the two.The third chapter explores the pragmatic functions of"Bieshi"(别是)and"Biebushi"(别不是)from four aspects:expression function, information function, text function and evaluation function.Although both"Bieshi"(别是)and"Biebushi"(别不是)have the above four pragmatic functions, the subjectivity and certainty of the two are not the same, and there are also differences in semantic relations. The fourth chapter mainly sorts out the lexicalization process of"Bieshi"(别是)and"Biebushi"(别不是),and further explore the blurring mechanism of the two.The third part is the conclusion part. After completing the investigation of"Bieshi"(别是)and"Biebushi"at the two levels of diachronic and synchronic, the author draws two conclusions. At the same time,it points out the direction for the author to continue research in the next step.
