| With the continuous development of economy and society,English writing plays an increasingly important role in global communication.For better adaptation to the needs of the development of the times,it’s necessary to reform the writing teaching and constantly improve the specification and quality of English talent training in China.Since the implementation of curriculum reform,the quality of college English writing teaching has been improved.However,the situation of English writing teaching is still not optimistic.How to improve the writing ability of English majors effectively is still an important issue.Facing the teaching problems in university,Professor Zhang Xuexin has put forward a new teaching model--the PAD model.This model is composed of three procedures,which are named presentation,assimilation and discussion.By redistributing teaching time,the PAD model integrates the advantages of teaching method and discussion method and has been favored by many scholars and teachers.Practices show that the PAD model can improve teaching efficiency and enhance learning initiative of college students greatly.Therefore,this study is aimed at applying the PAD model to writing teaching for English majors and exploring the effect of how this model can improve the quality of writing teaching.The main research questions are as follows: 1)If the PAD model can improve the writing scores of English majors? 2)If the PAD model can improve the writing abilities of English majors in the aspects of content and expression,language application and writing norms ? 3)If the PAD model can improve the writing interest of English majors?Taking 89 students from two parallel classes of English majors in Kashi University as research subjects,the researcher conducted a three-month teaching experiment.Before the experiment,students of two classes were required to complete the questionnaire and to write a composition.During the experiment,the experimental class adopted the PAD model for writing teaching,while the control class implemented the original teaching model for writing teaching.At the end of the experiment,questionnaire survey and writing test were conducted on the subjects again,and some of the students in the experimental class were interviewed.The results show that: the application of the PAD model can improve the writing scores of English majors,and can improve students’ writing abilities such as content and expression,language application and writing norms.At the same time,compared with the original teaching model,the role of PAD model in improving English majors’ writing interest is more obvious. |
