Writing reflects students’ ability to apply comprehensive knowledge and plays a vital role in English learning.At this stage,the current situation of high school English writing teaching is not ideal.In recent years,the model of PAD(Presentation,Assimilation,Discussion)class teaching has been widely used in English teaching,the concept of which is to divide the classroom into two,half by the teacher and the other half to the students for discussion.However,during the implementation process,it was found that it is difficult to measure students’ pre-class learning readiness,and it was difficult to control the discussion in class,so it was difficult to ensure the quality of teaching.PBL(Problem-based Learning)is problem-based,allowing students to construct knowledge around problems,so as to help students better grasp knowledge,improve their thinking ability,problem-solving ability and their independent learning ability,improve students’ writing learning efficiency and help cultivate students’ writing ability.Based on this,in order to improve the present situation of the application of PAD class in high school English writing teaching,this thesis combines PAD class and problem-based learning,and proposes to apply the PBL-based PAD class teaching model in high school English writing teaching to arouse students’ writing interest and improve their writing level.Based on constructivist learning theory and cognitilist learning theory,this study takes 48 students in a sophomore class in the author’s internship location(a high school in Harbin,Heilongjiang Province)as the research object,and conducts writing teaching in this class,using questionnaire survey method,interview method,case analysis method and test method to explore two questions: First,how to carry out English writing teaching that combines divided classrooms and problem-based learning? Second,the impact of PBL-based PAD classroom teaching mode on students’ writing level in high school English writing teaching?It is found that the PBL-based PAD classroom teaching model is feasible and effective for high school English writing teaching.Problem-based learning can better promote the implementation of the teaching mode of divided classrooms,effectively solve the problems of insufficient preparation before class,difficult operation of discussion links and difficulty in ensuring discussion efficiency,and can achieve the purpose of improving students’ writing level.
