English Curriculum Standards for Senior High Schools(2017 edition)("new curriculum standards" for short)put forward the key competencies of English discipline,namely language ability,thinking quality,cultural awareness and learning ability.English teachers are required to conduct teaching according to the new curriculum standards under the guidance of the key competencies of English discipline.Although there are a lot of researches on English writing teaching,there are few researches on the teaching design of English writing based on the key competencies of English discipline,especially the specific practice of English teaching in senior high school.This thesis attempts to take Humanistic Learning Theory as the theoretical basis.Through the survey to know the current situation of students’ key competencies of English discipline,and to explore the design direction of English writing teaching in senior high school.The research focuses on the following questions: 1)What is the current situation of cultivating students’ key competencies of English discipline in English writing teaching? 2)How to design English writing teaching based on the key competencies of English discipline?The survey found that few teachers put the key competencies of English discipline into English writing teaching,and the overall situation of students’ key competencies of English discipline is not optimistic.In this regard,this research designs English writing teaching from four aspects of teaching aims,teaching strategies,teaching process and teaching evaluation.In the teaching process,taking a specific writing topic as an example,it expounds how to cultivate students’ language ability,thinking quality,cultural awareness and learning ability in the pre-writing,while-writing and post-writing of English writing class in senior high school.With the aim of cultivating students’ key competencies of English discipline,this research puts forward the following suggestions for teachers’ reference: 1)High school English teachers should study key competencies of English discipline seriously and deepen understanding of it.2)The aims of writing teaching should be combined with the key competencies of English discipline.3)Teaching activities should be connected with the key competencies of English discipline.4)Teachers should not regard grades as the only standard to measure students’ ability,but should evaluate students from many aspects.
