| The cultivation of English core competencies plays a significant role in English teaching.The period of senior high school is an essential stage for students to improve their comprehensive abilities and develop their core competencies,including linguistic ability,cultural awareness,thinking quality and learning ability.The cultivation of English core competencies is closely linked to the process of language learning and text comprehension,which necessarily involves a large number of reading and writing activities.Therefore,reading and writing are very significant in cultivating students’ key competencies.Reading is an important medium for students to input knowledge.And writing,the carrier of outputting knowledge,is the process of recording,expressing and exchanging different ideas.Reading-writing integration can promote students’ thinking in reading,consolidate students’ knowledge in writing and cultivate students’ writing skills and cultural awareness.In practical English teaching,there are many problems: reading and writing are often taught separately;the learning efficiency of reading-writing class is low;English reading method is single;the cultivation of students’ core competencies is scarce.What’s more,the research based on core competencies mainly talks about the essence of teaching,evaluation,teaching strategy and so on.There is quite a little research on the integrated teaching based on core competencies.And most research on reading-writing integration teaching mainly focuses on college students.Thus,it is necessary to have a research on reading-writing integration teaching based on English core competencies in senior high school.Based on input hypothesis,production-oriented approach and activity view in English learning,this research focuses on the reading-writing integration English teaching from the perspective of English core competencies in senior high school.The data is collected by questionnaire,classroom observation and interview through quantitative and qualitative research methods.Through the investigation of the current situation of reading-writing integration English class in senior high school in Rizhao,this research aims to find out the existing problems of reading-writing integration English teaching and the effects of the current reading-writing English teaching on the cultivation of English core competencies.Through the analysis,it shows that most English teachers have a basic knowledge of English core competencies,but they mainly focus on one element of English core competencies,linguistic knowledge;the efficiency in reading-writing class is not good;reading-writing teaching has little effect on the cultivation of English core competencies;the cultivation of four elements in English core competencies is unbalanced;reading-writing integration teaching in high school has a positive significance in improving students’ language knowledge and ability.But the effect on cultivating students’ cultural awareness,learning ability,especially thinking quality is not satisfactory.The author hopes that this research can provide some help for English teachers in senior high school and raise the awareness of reading-writing integration teaching and English core competencies.What’s more,it can provide some references for English teaching so as to enhance the cultivation of English core competencies. |
