| Since the English Curriculum Standard from Ministry of education published as English Curriculum Standard for General Senior High Schools(2017 edition),it has put forward that the specific goal of English curriculum for senior high schools is to cultivate students’ English subject core competencies,which include four competencies:language competence,cultural awareness,thinking quality and learning ability,and English teachers have paid more and more attention to develop students English subject core competencies.English subject core competencies are the value of English subject and are correct values,essential qualities and key abilities,which can be formed by students’ hard working.To meet the needs of individual life-long development,cultivating students’ English subject core competencies is the core of English curriculum implementation in senior high schools.Therefore,English teacher should try their best to carry out the requirement of the core competencies.of English subject.English learning involves listening,speaking,reading,and writing.In fact,reading plays an important role in the four parts.English teachers in senior high school always focus on how to have reading class efficiently.However,he design of English teaching plan for reading is the basis of reading class,which is the plan about how to teach English reading class.To develop students’ English subject core competencies in reading class,the reading teaching plan should meet the requirements of English subject core competencies.This study aims at leaning about the current situation of English reading teaching plan in senior high schools,and to find out the existing problems and analyze the causes of these problems.Finally,the author puts forward some suggestions on English reading teaching plan in senior high schools based on English subject core competencies.This study takes the English teachers of Guang’an Friendship Middle School and the designs of six English reading teaching plan as research objects.Through the methods of case study,questionnaire survey and interview,this paper studies and discusses these problems from the perspective of English subject core competencies.This study is based on the theories of Humanism.Through this study the author found that the current teaching design of high school English reading reflects the English subject core competencies but it is not sufficient.Most of the teaching design of reading class tends to focus on the cultivation of language ability,and has little time for the cultivation of cultural awareness,thinking quality and learning ability.In addition to the imbalanced cultivation of the four dimensions of English subject core competencies,the teaching design of English reading also lacks analysis of students and textbooks.The main reasons for these problems are that under the current educational background,there is still too much emphasis placed on the results of the college entrance examination and the teachers’ own quality should be improved.Therefore,to solve these problems,we must further deepen the English educational reform,and at the same time,teachers in senior high school must also strengthen the study of theoretical knowledge.Therefore,the author hopes that this study can provide some useful suggestions for senior high school English teachers on the design of reading teaching based on the cultivation of English subject core competencies,which can help teachers systematically cultivate their students’ language competence,cultural awareness,thinking quality and learning competence in reading teaching and realize the educational value of English subject. |
