Research On The Authentic Discourse Marker "Shuo Zhen De"

In this thesis,the authentic discourse marker "Shuo zhen de" is selected,the formation and functions of authentic discourse marker "Shuo zhen de" is untangled detailedly.And the variants of the discourse marker "Shuo zhen de","Jiang zhen" and "Jiang zhen de" are discussed.The discourse marker "Shuo zhen de" is studied from diachronic and synchronic perspective.Apart from the introduction and conclusion,this thesis is divided into three chapters:In chapter one,the formation of the discourse marker "Shuo zhen de" is untangled.The discourse marker "Shuo zhen de" is developed on the basis of "Zhen de",and "Zhen de" is related to "Zhen ge",which appeared before."Zhen de" is widely used after completely replaced "Zhen ge".It takes a long period of time for "Zhen ge" to "Zhen de" and then "Shuo zhen de",and in the end,the discourse marker "Shuo zhen de".It includes the expansion of semantics,the substitution of vocabulary and the formation of final discourse markers.In chapter two,the pragmatic function of discourse marker "Shuo zhen de" is discussed.The pragmatic function of discourse marker "Shuo zhen de" is divided into textual organizational function and social interpersonal function.The organizational function of discourse marker "Shuo zhen de" is subdivided into the function of marking the discourse content conversion,the function of marking topic conversion,the function of turn taking and the function of supplemental discourse content.The social interper sonal function of discourse marker "Shuo zhen de" is subdivided into from utter ance generation standpoint and from utterance understanding standpoint.From utterance generation standpoint,it is divided into the function of indicating the attitude and putting forward opinions,attracting the attention of the listener and proposing topics,prompting the listener to pay atten tion to the following contents,and expressing the implicit information.From utterance understanding standpoint,it is divided into marking the key content of the utterances,and promoting the listener into the conversation structure.The discourse marker "Shuo zhen de" mainly embodies social interpersonal function,on the whole,mainly marking the discourse content conversion,the topic conversion,and the turn taking,and indicating the attitude and putting forward opinions.In chapter three,the origin and function of the discourse markers,which are the vari-ants of "Shuo zhen de","Jiang zhen" and "Jiang zhen de",are discussed.The variant "Jiang zhen" comes from the Cantonese dialect,and "Jiang zhen de" comes from the dialect area where both "Jiang" and "Shuo" are speech verbs.They can’t replace "Shuo zhen de" in function.The function of "Jiang zhen" include supplemental discourse content,prompting the listener to pay attention to the following contents and the function of turn taking.The function of "Jiang zhen de" include supplemental discourse content,express the implicit information,the function of turn taking and prompting the listener to pay attention to the following contents.These two variants only have parts of functions that "Shuo zhen de" has,and they can’t replace "Shuo zhen de" in function.And the main reasons for the formation of these two variants are language contact and the psychological needs of language users to seek novelty and difference.
