| In china,English course has become a very important course in schools’ curricula.Students start to learn English at an early age.What’s more,English reading is an essential skill in English study.English teaching is a major means of learning English knowledge,mastering English skills and then applying English language for students.English reading teaching models are subjects that national teachers,scholars and experts concern and explore.New English Curriculum Standards of Senior High School,which is issued by Education Ministry in 2017,put forward a higher requirement for teachers of senior high schools in English reading teaching.It requires that students should have an excellent reading ability and they can read autonomously and learn autonomously in a way.In English reading teaching teachers should focus on the cultivation of students’ English reading ability and skills and stimulate students’ interest in reading.The purpose is to improve students’ reading ability and let students learn autonomously.Nowadays,in China many middle school English teachers are trying to use a new model in English reading teaching,which is named as“GLP”.“Learning Plan” is a proposal compiled by teachers ahead of time for students who should use it to preview before class.GLP is also ateaching model that is used during class by teacher and students who explore and complete the tasks together.This Paper is a research which researches whether the GLP model can improve students’ level of autonomous reading in English and their English reading ability in English reading course.In the paper,the author took one hundred senior one students from two parallel classes of one middle school of Baotou as the research subjects.The traditional reading teaching method is used in the controlled class while GLP is used in the experimental class.One term empirical research concentrates on whether using GLP can help to cultivate students’ autonomous reading English awareness and to improve students’ reading ability level and whether the students’ scores of reading part increased.The author proposed two hypotheses: 1.GLP is an effective model to promote autonomous reading in English for students of senior high school.2.GLP is effective in improving senior one students English reading ability.Some instruments are adopted in the research,including questionnaire,pre-test,post-test and interview.Compares with some traditional English reading teaching models,the empirical results supported the author’s hypothesis and proved that the GLP indeed has an evident impact on the English reading in senior high schools by collecting and analyzing the experimental data.GLP is an effective model to promote autonomous reading in English and improve senior one students English reading ability. |
