A Report On The English-chinese Translation Of Famous Artists Series:Michelangelo

This translation practice report is based on the English-Chinese translation of the Famous Artists Series: Michelangelo.The original book,examining the life experience and works of great artist Michelangelo,is one of the western art history works which are to be introduced and published by East China University of Science and Technology Press.The understanding of Michelangelo’s life and works can enable us to learn from his unswerving faith and the spirit of hard work.This report will firstly provide a detailed introduction to the source of the translation project,the author of the original text,the background and significance of the translation project.Then,it will analyze the three aspects of the translation process,namely,pre-translation preparation,translation difficulties and quality control.Then,guided by the principle of "no definite method in translation" and based on a thorough and careful analysis of the original text,the author will adopt different translation techniques,such as deletion,addition and rewriting,to address the translation difficulties encountered in the process of translation.The Conclusion summarizes the author’s thoughts and insights in the process of translation,for the purpose of getting a deeper understanding of translation theory.It is hoped that this report will be of some use to relevant translators.
