| This report focuses on the English-Chinese translation of Chapter 52,“DOORS”of the Airplane Maintenance Manual for the Cirrus SR20(SR20 AMM).The report records the text’s features,translation difficulties,solutions,experience summary,and theoretical thinking,using Fang Mengzhi’s three principles of applied translation as a framework.The report documents the translation practice process,identifies translation difficulties,and summarizes the translation experience and theoretical thinking related to this type of text.The original text covers the troubleshooting and maintenance procedures for the passenger cabin door,crew cabin door,and baggage cabin door.The original language is clear,concise,and accurate to allow maintenance personnel to understand instructions quickly and complete maintenance tasks efficiently.However,the text contains many technical terms,and the use of prepositions and conjunctions to connect sentence elements can result in semantic misunderstandings.This is one of the significant challenges encountered during this translation practice.Additionally,passive elements are common in scientific and technological texts,making content objective and accurate.However,translators should avoid awkward translations when using passive sentences in translation.This report highlights the importance of maintaining high professional quality,improving information search ability,utilizing translation software effectively,familiarizing oneself with the current process of translation project management,and considering all translation aspects to improve translation quality when translating professional texts in a specific field.The Airplane Maintenance Manual(AMM)is a distinct scientific and technological text type,and while there are currently few studies in this area,this translation practice report could aid future translations of AMM. |
