| Following the global COVID-19 outbreak in 2020,the importance of microbiology research has been recognized by the whole society. However, most of these books are in English, which is not easy for Chinese researchers to read and learn. Therefore, the translation of such books has certain significance to promote the popularization and development of microbial technology in China.Microbiome Analysis,as the source text of this translation practice report,is an instructive book involving biology and computer science, which owns the characteristics of objectivity, profession, rigour and has definite purpose.Meanwhile, considering that this translation task is to make readers understand and master the techniques introduced in the source text, skopos theory of functional theory was adopted as the guiding theory of this translation practice.Skopos theory enables the translation more easily to be understood in a more flexible way. Before translation, the translator had read the literature repeatedly and learnt professional knowledge to understand the source text more deeply.During translation,on the basis of the skopos theory, various translation methods and techniques were flexibly applied to reduce the difficulty of reading. Moreover, after translation, the translation was proofread with the help of teachers and peers to ensure the quality of the translation. After completing the translation, the target text was analyzed from skopos rule, coherence rule and fidelity rule;besides, typical examples of some translation difficulties in source text were classified by translation methods or techniques.Furthermore, combined with examples, translation methods and translation techniques used in the process of translation were summarized. It is expected that this report to provide reference for future technical text related to microbial information analysis. |
