The Application Of The Three Principles Of Skopos Theory In Thetranslation Of Scientific Texts

Since the beginning of the 21st century,with the rapid development of science and technology and the increasingly frequent exchanges between countries,English for science and technology plays an increasingly important role in the scientific and technological exchanges between countries all over the world.Scientific English is characterized by a large number of professional vocabulary,complex sentence structure,passive sentences,long and difficult sentences,etc.,with a high degree of objectivity and accuracy.As a typical information text,agroecology science and technology texts mainly serve to convey information and have strong purposiveness and functionality.Therefore,the author chooses skopos theory as the theoretical basis of this paper.Guided by the skopos theory and its three principles,this thesis takes the E-C translation of an experimental research report to discuss how to apply the objective principle,the faithful principle and the coherent principle to solve problems of agricultural science and technology of ecology text translation of words,sentences,discourses.And this paper tries to sum up such text translation strategy and method of science and technology text for improving the quality of translation and guiding other translators in choosing correct translation strategies.This paper consists of five parts.The first part introduces the research background,research significance and translation task.In the second part,the author summarizes the research status of translation of scientific and technical English at home and abroad,and summarizes its shortcomings.The third part first summarizes the formation and development of skopos theory,then introduces the three principles of skopos theory,and finally summarizes the guiding significance of the three principles of skopos theory to the translation of scientific and technological texts.The fourth part demonstrates the translation examples from the perspective of vocabulary,sentence and text of the source text,and analyzes them one by one by combining the three principles of skopos theory.The fifth part is the summary and reflection of the author,which summarizes the translation methods of scientific and technological texts of agroecology,reflects on the deficiencies in the paper,and successfully verifies the highly guiding role of skopos theory in Technical English translation.
