| The present translation report focuses on complex English sentence translation in the book The End of Cool Japan.This volume brings together Japanese specialists to identify key challenges(ethical,legal,and cultural challenges)in using Japanese popular culture materials in teaching and research.As a collection of academic essays,there are many difficult sentences in the source text,and the structure is rigorous and complicated.Therefore,based on the translation practice of the first three chapters of this book,the translator analyzes the translation problems and processing methods of complex English sentences.This translation report first introduces the translation project,the source text and its authors,then sorts out preparation process,translation tools,and quality control strategies.Chapter 3 discusses the text type of ST and the difficulties encountered,and briefly introduces the previous studies on the translation of complex sentences.Then typical cases are analyzed from three translation methods:sequencing(顺序法),reversing(逆序法),and splitting(分译法).In the last chapter,the author gives a summary.Through this task,the author has learned a lot from this and realized the importance of translation preparation and quality control.Furthermore,in academic text translations,it is important to ensure its accuracy and readability.The author hopes that this report could do some contribution to further studies on academic complex sentence translations. |
