Primary school English has become a compulsory course for students above grade three.English teaching in the elementary education stage has a great influence on the future English level of pupils.Presently the English learning status of pupils is not quite optimistic.The most prominent problem is that students’ English learning is not motivated enough and their interest in English is not strong.Faced with this situation,the education circle has actively explored countermeasures to study how to improve pupil’s interest in English.They also do some research on what effective teaching methods should be adopted to make our classrooms full of interest and improve the effect of classroom.More and more scholars and experts are focusing their research on game teaching methods.Based on a large number of research materials and the summary of previous research experience,this paper carried out an empirical study on game teaching in primary English classroom teaching.The research questions are as follows:Question 1: What is the effect of Game Teaching Method on primary school students’ interest in English learning?Question 2: What is the influence of Game Teaching Method on primary school students’ word memory?Question 3: To what extent will the Game Teaching Method improve primary school students’ English achievement?The experiment took two classes in grade four of XXX Primary School in GY city as the research participants and lasted for 4 months.A total of 106 students from the experimental class(53 students)and the control class(53 students)participated in the experiment,which The experimental class was taught by game teaching method,while the control class was taught by traditional teaching method.By means of questionnaires,classroom observation and tests,this paper carried out an empirical study on the effect of English game teaching in primary school.The form of comparison can directly reflect the actual effect of game teaching in a certain period of time,and the real situation of game teaching in primary English classes.The major findings were as follows: firstly,the game teaching method could easily arouse pupils’ interest in English learning,and effectively improved their class activity.Moreover,game teaching had a positive effect on the vocabulary memory of pupils and made pupils more easily memorize the words in the game.Finally,data analysis of post-test shows that the game teaching method has effectively improved pupils’ English achievement.
