Observing the current situation of primary and secondary education in China,the following problems often exist in primary and secondary schools in China: teaching content and form make students feel boring;The classroom form is dominated by teachers’ lectures and students’ listening;The atmosphere in the classroom makes students feel constrained.Therefore,especially for students with learning difficulties,they are either very nervous or listless in English classes,which can lead to a vicious cycle of dislike and resistance to English learning over time.The emergence of this phenomenon requires teachers to transform and change their teaching concepts and teaching design,seriously consider and explore new teaching models that are more suitable for primary school students.In primary school English teaching,teachers generally target a group of children aged 6-12.Research on the physical and psychological characteristics of children at this age has found that they are curious about the things around them,active and playful,willing to imitate,praise,and love games.Therefore,in order for primary school students to learn English better,more actively,and more efficiently,educators and front-line teachers must change traditional educational concepts,explore a new and creative teaching method based on respecting the natural nature of students,and introduce "games" into the English classroom in primary schools,which is the concept of "learning" in "playing".Many front-line teachers have stated that the application of game teaching methods is conducive to the long-term harmonious development of primary school students’ physical and mental health,and has the significance of eliminating student fatigue,developing student intelligence,and cultivating student skills.Combining with my own teaching practice,the author focuses on the following three issues:1.What is the actual situation of applying game teaching method to primary school English teaching?2.In the current primary school English teaching,what kind of problems exist in the game teaching?3.How to make better use of games in primary school English teaching?Using questionnaire survey,classroom observation and interviews with front-line teachers as research methods,the author has an in-depth understanding of the application status of game teaching method in primary school English classes from the perspectives of students and teachers.Through data analysis and collation,the author summarizes and summarizes several problems in the application of game teaching method in primary school English classes,and analyzes the internal reasons.In the sixth chapter,based on specific cases,the author puts forward corresponding improvement suggestions from the three aspects of game preparation,game implementation and game reflection respectively,so as to make the game teaching method more in line with the actual development of primary school English classroom at the present stage,so as to achieve all-round improvement of students’ comprehensive quality,in order to help primary school English teachers make greater progress in teaching level and teaching effect.
