A Study Of Incremental Sentences In Modern Oral Chinese

The research object of this article is the incremental sentence.The incremental sentence is a relatively special language phenomenon that appears in spoken language.It shows that additional components are added after a complete sentence.Because the form of the sentence is highly similar to the translocation sentence,It is often analyzed as a translocation phenomenon.However,incremental sentences and translocation sentences have different connotations.Translocation is defined from the perspective of the change of the position of the syntactic components,and the addition includes not only the addition of the syntactic components,but also the semantic incremental explanation and the pragmatic reinforcement,clarification,supplementation and modification.Therefore,the post-position of the translocation can usually be restored to the original sentence,but the incremental part of the incremental may not be able to be restored,or the original meaning of the sentence will be changed after the restoration.Previous studies focused more on the phenomenon of translocation,and paid little attention to retrofitting.The boundary between translocation and retrofitting was also very vague,and the two were often confused.In view of this,this article takes the incremental phenomenon in spoken Chinese as a research topic,trying to examine the incremental sentences in spoken language from multiple angles,and dig deeper into the characteristics of incremental sentences and the pragmatic functions embodied in interactive communication.The full text is divided into six chapters.The first and last chapters are introduction and conclusion respectively.The main body of the article is divided into four chapters.The first chapter is the introduction,briefly describing the origin of the concept of"incremental sentences",clarifying the research goals,and the significance of researching incremental sentences.A brief introduction to the research results at home and abroad from a macro perspective,and a synchronic and diachronic perspective to introduce the research results involving inversion,translocation,and retrofitting,and explain the source of the corpus of this article.The second chapter is to explain the connotation,judgment and characteristics of the incremental sentence itself,and clarify the definition of the incremental sentence.We define the supplementary sentence as a sentence that adds an additional component after a complete sentence.In this chapter,I want to clarify the interrelationship among the three of chase after,inversion,and translocation.Translocation is an inversion in spoken language,and all the post-components can be reset.Not all the post-components of the complementary sentence can be reset.In addition,the syntactic characteristics of the incremental sentence are summarized into three points:one is the integrity of the preceding part;the other is the non-mandatory restoration of the post-component;the third is the limitation of co-occurrence of prepositions and adverbs.The third chapter is about the types of incremental sentences,starting from the three angles of number type,semantic type,and functional type,and then subdivided into different sub-categories in order to investigate the different linguistic representations of incremental sentences.The number types of incremental sentences include single incrementation and compound incrementation.Among them,multiple adverbs in a single incrementation are repeated increments,which are closely related to the characteristics of the adverb itself,which is empty in meaning,flexible in position,and small in carrying information.The combination of "statement object+time information" accounts for the majority of compound tracking.This phenomenon can be explained in terms of information transmission and syntactic mechanism.In terms of information transmission,first,the speaker must ensure that the topic is synchronized with the recipient;second,ensure that the recipient is clear about his position.In terms of syntactic mechanism,the relevance of the components that can be complemented and the predicate verbs is weak,and some components are even high-level predicates,so they have a higher degree of freedom in the sentence.Therefore,the high frequency of this type of combination in the corpus is the result of the combined effect of information transmission and the Chinese syntactic mechanism.Semantic types include four categories:spatio-temporal recovery,human and object recovery,indirect participation in recovery,and cause,purpose,and condition recovery.The function types are divided into repeated tracking,theme mark tracking and corrective tracking.The fourth chapter is the analysis of the semantic function of the incremental sentence.This chapter serves as a transitional link between the previous and the next.The previous chapter has already involved semantic analysis in terms of the semantic types of the incremental sentence.This chapter will focus on the semantic function of the incremental sentence.The semantic function of the incremental sentence is mainly manifested as a supplementary function,including propositional meaning incrementation and modal tone incrementation Charge.Semantic analysis is the core of the research on complementary sentences,which runs through this article.The fifth chapter is about the pragmatic analysis of incremental sentences,which is divided into two sections:information structure and pragmatic function.Under the framework of interactive linguistics,the performance of incremental sentences in information processing and pragmatic meaning is analyzed.Through the observation of the corpus,we found that in terms of information structure,the distribution of new and old information in the preceding part and the follow-up part exhibits the characteristics of migration.In terms of pragmatic function,the main functions of incremental sentences are shown in four categorles:strengthening function,clarifying function,incremental function and corrective function.The sixth chapter is the conclusion.It summarizes the research content and conclusions of this article,analyzes the innovation and shortcomings of this article,and clarifies the direction that needs to be improved in the future.The innovation of this article lies in:clarifying the interrelationship of the three retrofit sentences,redefining the types of retrofit sentences,and objectively examining the information structure of retrofit sentences.The shortcomings are:1.The investigation and combing of foreign literature is not comprehensive and in-depth;2.The research on the types of supplementary is not scientific and clear;3.The semantic analysis is not perfect enough and can be discussed in detail;4.The idea of pragmatic analysis is simple and still needs Enrich theoretical knowledge.
