This article conducts a quantitative comparison and analysis of the texts of the currently widely used primary comprehensive textbooks for foreign Chinese("Development Chinese" and "Boya Chinese")in terms of genre, topic, and difficulty of the text.Findings:1.In terms of text topics, the number of topics in the two textbooks is sufficient, but the number of first-level topics and second-level topics in the first volume of "Development Chinese" is significantly higher than the first volume of "Boya Chinese"and the first volume of "Boya Chinese".The number of level topics is higher than the second volume of "Development Chinese";the topics of the two textbooks mostly meet the requirements of the syllabus, but some of the texts are more esoteric and difficult to understand;the topic layout of the two textbooks is relatively scattered.2.In terms of text genre, both textbooks mainly focus on conversation and narratives, which are in line with the learning characteristics of students at the elementary stage. The disadvantage of"Boya Chinese" is that the narrative arrangement is unreasonable. The narrative genre does not appear in the first volume of "Boya Chinese".The latter part of the narrative in the second volume of "Boya Chinese" is relatively long.3.In terms of the difficulty of the text, from the perspective of sentence length, the average sentence lengths of Book 2 of "Boya Chinese" and Book 2 of "Development Chinese" are not within the scope of the elementary textbook;from the perspective of the word compilation arrangement, the new words in the text of "Development Chinese" The total amount is more than that of "Boya Chinese",and the vocabulary of the "Development Chinese" text is more difficult;from the perspective of the grammar point arrangement, the "Development Chinese" text has a large number of grammar points and is more difficult. On the whole, the text of"Developing Chinese" is more difficult.Based on the above quantitative comparative analysis results,it is recommended that:1.The topic selection of the text should be close to contemporary social life, avoiding esoteric topics as much as possible;2.The topic arrangement method can learn from domestic Chinese textbooks, and organize each unit according to the "content theme";3.The choice of text genre should be practical to meet the needs of learners’daily communication;4.The preparation of narratives should pay attention to the connection and transition between the upper and lower volumes;5.The writing of texts should control the length of the text and the average sentence length at a reasonable level Within the scope of,the amount of new words should not be too much, and the vocabulary of Grade A and Grade B should be the main. The choice of grammar points should be based on the syllabus, and the total amount and difficulty should be controlled.
