Information loss is very common in English-Chinese simultaneous interpretation of student interpreters.There are many factors leading to it.And the poor ability of listening and analysis can not be ignored.Based on Gile’s Effort Model,the study reported the influence of differences in listening and analysis ability of student interpreters on information loss in simultaneous interpreting.The research conducted the evaluation of listening and analysis ability and two simultaneous interpretation based on 13 first grade students of English interpreting majors.The data of the experiment were analyzed by the Pearson Correlation tool of IBM SPSS Statistics.The research found significant correlation between interpreters’ listening and analysis ability and the information loss in E-C SI.However,there’s no obvious difference between the influence of the listening ability and the analyzing ability on information loss of E-C SI.There’s also no significant difference between the infulence of listening and analysis on the total-information-transmitting ratio and the maininformation-transmitting ratio.Based on the analysis of the results of the questionnaire survey,it found that the main reasons for the information loss of student interpreters are the influence of time pressure,poor listening and analysis ability,and poor expression ability.According to the statistics of the experiment results,the two most common reasons of information loss are intensive number and time pressure.The study result can enrich the research about the correlation between listening and analysis ability and information loss in simultaneous interpreting,and it can enlighten part of related aspects of future research.It can make certain theoretical and practical contribution to the researching on the relationship between listening and analysis ability and information loss in simultaneous interpreting and methods of improving interpreting quality.
