Currently, simultaneous interpretation has become a communicative mode widely applied in various international activities and important conferences. During simultaneous interpretation, loss of information makes it hard to guarantee the precision and quality of translation. However, information loss is considered as an unavoidable factor in simultaneous interpretation. Starting with the translation theories of French interpretational school, this dissertation chooses President Xi Jinping’s Keynote Speech in Annual Meeting of Boao Forum for Asia2013as the object of investigation. From there, the dissertation proceeds to the analysis of the various problems possibly occurring in simultaneous interpretation. This is followed by a discussion of the relevant solutions put forward in this study. This dissertation gives an introduction to information processing in simultaneous interpretation, and "semantic equivalence" and "interpretation triangle model" in interpretation theory, which builds up the theoretical basis for the case analysis. By case analysis, this research holds that information loss can be caused by the differences of cultural background, time limit, improper allocation of attention, translation strategy, and short-term memory in brand and insufficient endurance. Meanwhile, the improvement of cultural ability in relation to language, the reasonable allocation of attention, the cautious selection of translation strategy and the memory training will become the possible solutions. This dissertation also concludes that sufficient preparation, application of translation skills and flexibility can reduce information loss. This research is a tentative discussion of the causes to information loss during simultaneous interpretation and provides certain suggestions to the future research in the relevant field.
