The Study Of The Nominal Reduplicated Form AABB In Chinese

The purpose of this paper is to explore the characteristics of Chinese nominal reduplicated AABB form from the perspectives of structure,grammar and semantics,and to compare the similarities and differences between Chinese nominal AABB and adjective AABB form,analyze and summarize the characteristics,motivations and limiting factors of Chinese nominal AABB.The first part is the introduction,which puts forward the reasons for the study of AABB,take a wide review on reduplicated form literature.And come up with the existing problems and solutions of the study of nominal reduplicated form AABB.The second part is the study of the structure of nominal AABB form,separately from synchronic and diachronic evolution views.AABB form can be divided into the AB-reduplicated type and the AA+BB-reduplicated type,the AA+BB-reduplicated type is the main form.These two types evolve in different ways from the diachronic perspective.the AA+BB-reduplicated type will turn to be the AB-reduplicated type if the structure of AABB has been re-analyse.From the evolution process perspective,AA and BB have asymmetry,and an important reason for the reduplicating of AABB is the symmetry between A and B,that is to say,the symmetric relationship between A and B plays A very important role in AABB.The third part is the study of semantic characteristics.This part classify the nominal AABB from the perspective of semantics,and find that the daily things are easier to reduplicate to AABB.The semantic relationship between A and B could limited AABB,and the semantic features of A and B are high similar.The fourth part is the grammatical study.In this part,utterance functions are the key of the research,considering syntactic function and grammatical collocation at the same time.And point out that nominal AABB have referential function and declarative function both.The fifth part expounds motivation and restriction factors the nominal AABB,including iconicity,analogy,rhyme and symmetry.Restricting factors involved in all aspects,including pronunciation,grammar and semantics,the semantic relationship between A and B is an important factor.The sixth part is the conclusion,which summary the shortcomings in the study of nominal AABB,and expects to continue to do the research.
