This article takes monosyllable Cheating verbs in modern Chinese as the research object. With reference to "Modern Chinese Dictionary" and "Synonyms Dictionary",eight words have been identified, namely "Pian,Keng,Meng,Guai,Zha,Kuang,Hong,Hu”.Such verbs have deceptive meanings and belong to the group of generic words. There are relatively few studies on cheating verbs in modern Chinese in academic circles, but such verbs are frequently used in daily communication.Researching and analyzing the commonalities and personalities between these words is helpful for people’s communication. The article reveals the semantic, syntactic, and pragmatic characteristics of this type of monosyllabic verbs through the systematic investigation of the research object, and explores some of the usage rules of this type of verbs in modern Chinese. The article is divided into five parts. The first part is the introduction. It mainly introduces the research purpose and significance of the article, determines the method used to determine the research object, summarizes the current research status of modern Chinese classifiers and deceptive verbs, and finally narrates the corpus of the article research.Sources and research methods. The second part is the semantic analysis of modern Chinese monosyllable scam verbs, mainly analyzing the semantic characteristics of verbs. The semantic characteristics of cheating verbs mainly include three aspects: the means, the purpose and the result of the action.Through the analysis of this chapter,we find that the reason why single-syllable "cheating" verbs coexist in the language and perform their own duties is because these words have different characteristics from other words. The members of this category perform their duties and cooperate with each other through their own semantic attributes that distinguish them from other members.Analyzing the semantics of verbs is helpful for users to accurately judge the context in which words are used. The third part is a syntactic analysis of scam verbs, and examines the commonness and individuality of scam verbs in terms of syntactic distribution and syntactic realization,as well as the syntactic collocation and overlap of scam verbs. In addition to acting as the predicate or the center of the predicate alone, some cheating verbs can be used as the subject or object alone.A small number of verbs can be used as attributives in the form of "V 的 N" or "V+N".The subject and object of the cheating verb collocation are mainly divided into two categories: surviving nouns and inanimate nouns. The complements carried include result complements, directional complements, possible complements, quantitative complements and modal complements. The overlapping forms of cheating verbs are VV form and V-V form. The fourth part is based on the analysis of pragmatic level. This chapter analyzes the distribution and frequency of monosyllable cheating verbs in spoken and written styles.Almost all monosyllable scam verbs can appear in the spoken language style, and "abduction" has its particularity. Most deceiving verbs enter the written language style, and some words hardly appear in the written language style, such as "keng" and "kuang",these two words are very spoken.Among the monosyllable deceiving verbs,"cheating" is used most frequently, and more than half are used.In the remaining verbs, the use frequency of "pit" is higher, which bears part of the pragmatic function of cheating verbs. The fifth part is the conclusion of the article, summarizing the main points of the thesis, and reflecting on the deficiencies in writing.
