The material of this English-Chinese Consecutive Interpreting(E-C CI for short hereafter)report was selected from the online lecture,“ Creativity in the EFL Classroom: Characteristics,Connections and Conundrums ” by Vincent Greenier,who was the associate professor at the University of Aberdeen.Academicians around the world have highly emphasized creativity in English as a Foreign Language(EFL for short hereafter).It is gaining traction as an essential dimension in education policies and second language acquisition.Professor Vincent Greenier does a comparison on textbook-driven approach and project-based approach to explore how the curriculum impacted creativity in the EFL classroom.The author provided consecutive interpreting service for the audience and expressed the opinion of the lecturer to the audience without language barrier,which can achieve the goal of cross-culture communication.The whole E-C CI process is recorded,and the recording is transcribed.In order to improve the quality assessment,the author makes an analysis according to the transcript and summarizes the problems,causes,and coping strategies.There are six parts to the dissertation.Excluding the introduction and conclusion,there are four chapters.The first chapter is task description,which introduces the task background and the speaking style of the lecturer.The second chapter describes the task procedure,containing preparation for interpreting,interpreting process and postinterpreting appraisal.In the third chapter,the author studies the Skopos Theory in-depth and elucidates the directive function of skopos rule,coherence rule,and fidelity rule.This chapter is the theoretical foundation of the dissertation.The fourth chapter analyzes this interpreting practice in detail,summaries the main problems:inappropriate pauses,information loss and logical confusion.After that,the author finds out the causes of them respectively,such as improper distribution of efforts,poor short-term memory and rigid interpreting.Finally,coping strategies are suggested: cooperation of the brain memory and note-taking,compression and reformulation.
