The Therapeutic Relationship in Analytical Psychology: Theory and Practice is a psychological work published by Routledge Press in February 2020.Based on the theory of Jungian psychology, the author,Claus Braun discussed the importance of therapeutic relationship in analytical psychology. This translation task is mainly based on Chapter 7 to 10 of the book.In this part, the author combined Jung’s analytical psychology with psychotherapy. The Translator completed the task with translation tools, such as KTrans and Google Translate. The report is based on the analysis and summary of the translation task.As an academic work of psychology, this text is an informative text, whose main purpose is to convey information and reflect objective facts. There are a large number of attributive clauses and sentences in passive voice in the source text, which are the key and difficult points in the translation task.Based on the specific cases, the Translator emphatically analyzed and summarized the translation techniques of attributive clauses and sentences in passive voice in this text. The report consists of five parts. The first part is an introduction to the background and content of the translation task and the general structure of the report. The second part introduces the source text from three aspects: text content, linguistic features and target readers. The third part states translation process, including pre-translation preparation, translation process and quality control. The fourth part is the case analysis which is the most important part of the report.Guided by skopos theory, the report explores the translation techniques of attributive clauses and sentences in passive voice. For the translation of attributive clauses, the report mainly discusses three techniques: translation into pre-modifier,translation into coordinate clause and translation into adverbial clause.Translation into coordinate clause is divided into two types: repetition of the antecedent and omission of the antecedent. The report mainly discusses the translation techniques of sentences in passive voice from three aspects, including translation into marked sentences in passive voice, translation into unmarked sentences in passive voice and translation into active sentences.Among them, translation into unmarked sentences in passive voice is divided into three types, namely, translation into sentences without subject, omission of the word“被” and translation into “是……的” sentence pattern. In the last part, the Translator draws a conclusion of the translation practice. The report is of referential significance to the translation of psychological texts, especially the translation of attributive clauses and sentences in passive voice. However, due to the limited types and number of cases, the analysis and summary in the report are limited to some extent.
