Application Of Calligraphy Elements In The Design Of Wenzhou Ou Kiln Celadon Incense Ware

Wenzhou Ou kiln is one of the famous kilns in local history,known as the flower of celadon.In 2015,Ou kiln production technology was included in the ninth batch of intangible cultural heritage list of Wenzhou City,which is an important part of Wenzhou regional culture.Calligraphy is closely related to ceramics and is a common decorative pattern.Ou kiln is one of the earliest porcelains to use calligraphy elements.However,the calligraphy elements are rarely used in the existing Ou kiln products.Therefore,it is necessary to study the combination of calligraphy and ouyao.Through literature review and on-the-spot investigation,this paper sorts out the relevant knowledge of Ou kiln,and understands the development history,artistic characteristics and production technology of Ou kiln.By combing the concept of calligraphy,this paper summarizes the concept of calligraphy elements,and divides calligraphy elements into five parts: line,font,stroke,structure and ink.It also analyzes the aesthetics of Ou kiln and calligraphy,as well as the function and aesthetics of the combination of calligraphy and Ou kiln.Through market research,we analyzed the incense market and ouyao market to understand the market demand,people’s preferences and the habit of using incense.This paper explores the combination of calligraphy elements and Ou kiln through practice.According to the design principles,the appropriate calligraphy elements are extracted to design and make incense.Based on the concept of developing traditional culture and inheriting traditional crafts,through the way of design test redesign,the aesthetic feeling of lines,modeling and word meaning of calligraphy elements were screened.In order to highlight the aesthetic feeling of glaze color and simple style of Ou kiln,combined with the results of previous experiments,the aesthetic feeling of lines,modeling and word meaning of calligraphy elements was analyzed,In this paper,we selected the four characters of "Kong Xiang Wan Li" in Zhang Xu’s cursive "four ancient poems" as the design theme and design elements,extracted the cursive lines and seal characters,and designed and produced a series of Ou kiln incense products.Based on the above,this paper summarizes the product design ideas of combining calligraphy and Ou kiln,provides a feasibility for the inheritance and development of Ou kiln,increases the diversity of Ou kiln celadon products,widens the market of Ou kiln,inherits and develops traditional handicrafts,enriches the cultural connotation of products,and increases the ways of cultural transmission.
