The sustainable development of environmental protection has always been an important concern of the society.In the decision-making of environmental problems,how to make more beneficial decisions for future development is worth exploring.Awe emotion is a kind of self-transcending positive emotion that individuals often experience.In the research of positive psychology,it has been gradually found that awe emotion has a positive influence on environmental behavior.At the same time,in the rapid social development,the psychological loss of modern people in complex affairs is also more serious,and the positive emotion can compensate for this loss.Based on the theory of self-control resource and the theory of processing strategy in decision-making,this study investigated the influence of awe on intertemporal decision-making behavior of individuals,and the combined effects of awe and ego depletion on intertemporal decision-making behavior of individuals.This study was discussed from one preliminary experiment and two formal studies.In the pre-experiment,the trait awe scale,the environmental intertemporal decision scale and the college student self-control scale were used,and the relationship among trait awe,environmental intertemporal decision and self-control was preliminarilyinvestigated through the measurement on the Star Network.The results of pre-experiment showed that :(1)Trait awe was correlated with intertemporal decision-making and self-control.(2)Awe emotion can predict individual environmental intertemporal decision-making behavior.The first part of the study is divided into two parts: verifying the priming mode of awe emotion in video physical material;Influence of awe on environmental intertemporal decision making.The influence of awe emotion on intertemporal decision-making of individual environment was designed by single factor experiment(awe primes group & no awe control group).Environmental Intertemporal Decision-Making Questionnaire was used.The results showed that :(1)the priming mode of the video physical material could successfully activate the awe emotion of the subjects.(2)Under the condition of awe priming,the subjects were able to make more beneficial choices in the long run in the environmental intertemporal decisions.The second study was divided into two parts: to verify the priming mode of awe emotion when recalling and writing awe experience;Effects of awe and ego depletion on environmental intertemporal decision making.The influences of awe and ego depletion on environmental intertemporal decision making were determined by an intersubject design of 2(awe: primetime,no prime-time)× 2(ego depletion: high ego depletion,low ego depletion).Environmental Intertemporal Decision-Making Questionnaire was used.The results showed that :(1)recall writing awe experience can activate awe emotion.(2)Ego depletion causes individuals to make impulsive choices that are more unfavorable in the long run in intertemporal environmental decisions.(3)Awe and ego depletion interact together in environmental intertemporal decision making.Conclusion:(1)Trait awe is correlated with environmental intertemporal decision making and selfcontrol.Trait awe can predict individuals’ environmental intertemporal decision making behavior.(2)Awe emotions can influence environmental intertemporal decision making,and individuals with awe emotions can make more beneficial long-term choices in environmental intertemporal decision making.(3)Ego depletion causes individuals to make impulsive choices that are more unfavorable in the long run in intertemporal environmental decisions.(4)Awe and ego depletion interact together to influence environmental intertemporal decision making. |
