Intertemporal decision-making refers to the individuals weighing the cost and benefit of the results at different times and making a choice. At present, the governance of relative poverty has become the focus of poverty reduction, and the research on the intertemporal decisionmaking of relatively poor individuals can enrich the empirical research in this field, and help to further explain the psychological reasons for the persistence of poverty,to provide theoretical support for the faster and better development of relative poverty reduction. In this study, three behavioral experiments were conducted to investigate the effects of ego-depletion and emotion on the intertemporal decision-making of relatively poor individuals. The first experiment examined the characteristics of intertemporal decision-making between relatively poor individuals and non-poor individuals in rural areas through intertemporal selection tasks. The results showed that, under natural conditions:(1)The choices of the two groups of subjects in the intertemporal decision-making tasks were affected by the delay time, and they preferred the current one with the increase of the delay time;(2)The two groups of subjects were quite consistent in the choices of intertemporal tasks, both of which were in the middle level;(3)The intertemporal decision-making reaction time of poor group subjects was longer than that of non-poor group subjects. In the second experiment, two ego-depletion tasks(digital Stroop task and perceptual decisionmaking task)were used to investigate the influence of ego-depletion aftereffect on the intertemporal decision-making of two groups of individuals. The results showed that:(1)The subjects in the relatively poor group were less sensitive to delay time, and their time preference did not change with the increase of the delay time, while the subjects in the non-poor group were influenced by the delay time, and preferred the current time with the increase of delay time;(2)Compared with the poor group, the intertemporal decision-making performance is better, and the proportion of choosing the current one has decreased, resulting in the reversal ego-depletion effect;(3)There was no significant difference in the intertemporal decisionmaking reaction time between the two groups. In the third experiment, emotional pictures were used to induce emotion with different potency, and the influence of emotional factors on the intertemporal decision-making of the two groups was investigated. The results showed that, under the conditions of different potency emotion priming:(1)Whether under the conditions of positive emotion or negative emotion, the choice of the two groups of subjects in the intertemporal decision-making task was affected by the delay time, and they preferred the current one with the increase of the delay time;(2)The intertemporal decision-making reaction time of the two groups of subjects under negative emotional conditions was significantly longer than that under positive emotional conditions;(3)There was no significant difference in the proportion of choosing the current one and reaction time of intertemporal decision-making between the two groups.According to the results of this study, the conclusions are drawn: Firstly,in the natural state, there was no significant difference in the intertemporal decision-making reaction probability between the relatively poor group and the non-poor group;Secondly, under the condition of ego-depletion,the reaction probability of the relatively poor group decreased, which was significantly lower than that of the non-poor group;Thirdly, under the condition of emotional priming, there was no significant difference in the intertemporal decision-making reaction probability between the relatively poor group and the non-poor group. |
