A Research On Documentary Creation Differences Of China And Japan Based On The Intercultural Communication Perspective

During the constant development of technology and the increasingly frequent intercultural communication worldwide,the medium plays crucial role in the construction and transmission of country image,and thereby the documentary becomes one of the important medium in intercultural communication.In recent years,the construction and transmission of city image has gradually grown into the essential dimension of the construction of country image.Accordingly,the documentary performs the role of exhibition of city symbol and exploration of city culture in the process of the construction of city image.Based on the intercultural communication perspective of documentaries,this thesis researches on the creation differences of Beijing documentaries between China and Japan.From the choice of city sample,Beijing,as the capital city of China,is not only an international city of economical and political center but also an oriental ancient city with 5000 years’ historical deposits and treasures as well as places of interest.The issue on presentation of Beijing image is of great value for countries all over the world.Although China and Japan are both Asian countries sharing eastern aesthetics vision,the exploration of Japanese documentary is more similar to that of western countries influenced by wave of capitalism after new age.As an island country,its unique island character furthermore causes different expressions and explorations in the construction of same city image between China and Japan.Chapter one gives a brief introduction concerning the choice of the sample,the significance of research on the issue combining with former studies,and the basic research theory and method involving in the whole thesis such as high context,low context and Theory of the Other.Chapter two analyses differentiation expressions of Beijing documentaries between China and Japan from content,narrative perspective,narrative pattern and audiovisual language respectively.Chapter three expounds reasons of exploration differences from Chinese and Japanese traditional culture differences and intercultural communication.Based on the summary of the preceding part of the thesis,chapter four describes creation thoughts and references provided by Japanese directors,and gives development strategy of Chinese city documentaries from the angle of content,narration and communication.
