With the development of Applied Linguistics, universities domestic and overseas set up undergraduate major of Applied Linguistics or other related field. Peking University applied for the establishment of this major in 2001, and in 2002 started to recruit students. And other universities also have explored this major development, which has received much attention from domestic researchers. In 2012, our country lists "Applied Linguistics" as a special major in Chinese undergraduate education, established its discipline status. However, it is a new major at undergraduate level and still immature. Its rapid development and current situation is uncoordinated. It lacks of a unified professional training program, and appears other problems such as non-scientific names and imbalance situation between discipline and major development.At the same time, the problems such as how to train professionals and what kind of professionals to train appear.This paper is based on the theory of the internal relations and the external relations of education, analyzes 13 universities in China and 1 abroad comparatively. The paper points out the features of them, and analyzes the development trend of Applied Linguistics major.The paper, taking "the internal relations and the external relations rule of education " as the breakthrough point, is divided into five chapters.The first chapter introduces the background, significance of the study, the theoretical basis of this research, and research methods and train of thought.The second chapter is the literature review of Applied Linguistics, including the positioning of Applied Linguistics, the present study, as well as the investigation objects.The third chapter is the core of the paper. Through comparatively analyzes of the programs and curriculum designed for the major and the development of faculty and students in the universities,we draw the development characteristics of Applied Linguistics major of the various colleges and universities.The fourth chapter, as another important part. Combined with the development of Applied Linguistics major from abroad, the fourth chapter provides reference for the future of this major.The fifth chapter concludes both the innovation and deficiencies of the paper.
