Digital information technology has become an essential driving force for the continuous expansion of economic globalization. With such a rapid development, the problem of “digital divide” has aroused the wide attention of the globe.By choosing the panel discussion at the 2019 Davos World Economic Forum-Making Digital Globalization More Inclusive, the interpreter hopes to help the Chinese people better realize that making digital economy more inclusive will bring more opportunities by stimulating the development of every country.More importantly, the interpreter hopes to discover the interpreter’s problem in interpreting and make improvements accordingly. This interpreting task is not an easy one not only because of the specialized knowledge involved, but also due to the lack of logic, the different accents and the speaking speed in the spontaneous speech. The interpreter was required to clarify the internal logic and make corresponding output in a very short time.Based on the Gile’s Effort Model, this report makes a concrete analysis on the problems and coping tactics involved in this simultaneous interpreting practice. In particular, this report attempts to examine the interpreting challenges caused by long sentences, terminologies, numbers and accents in the simulated interpretation. These challenges may be caused by cognitive saturation, speaker factors and language-specificity related problems. Therefore, the interpreter adopted different strategies, such as induction, segmentation, omission, amplification and parrot interpreting. The report also discusses the post-interpreting reflections.
