A Report On Simulated E-C Simultaneous Interpreting Of "World Economic Outlook" Group Discussion In 2018 Winter World Economic Forum

This paper is based on the simulated E-C simultaneous interpreting of "World Economic Outlook" group discussion in 2018 Winter World Economic Forum.On the one hand,the group discussion in this practice has many economic terms and figures.On the other hand,as a group discussion,most of the speeches of the participants are unscripted and quite colloquial.Based on Gile’s Energy Allocation Model,the paper chooses some typical cases in the practice and analyzes how this practice dealt with the above-mentioned difficulties.With the interpreting skills like sentence-breaking,prediction,induction techniques,the practice tried to better interpret the colloquial expressions in group discussions.Through sufficient preparation,the practice tried to cope with economic terms and figures,and in order to better convey the speaker’s tone,the practice applied tone processing techniques.Last but not the least,the paper selects some cases to analyze the errors occurred in the interpreting.Through the practice of the simultaneous interpreting and the writing of this paper,the writer has learnt a lot.When dealing with economic interpreting tasks,interpreters should be well prepared before the task begins,apply the theories and skills flexibly in the interpreting process,record failures and summarize success of the interpreting.
