A Report On The Translation Of The UK Supreme Court’s Opinion Of KO V.Secretary Of State For The Home Department

This paper is a translation report of the UK Supreme Court case set.The case set consists of four similar cases,all discussing the impact of immigrant parents’ crimes on children.As a legal text,judgment is characterized by a large number of long and complicated sentences and difficult to translate.In this case set,the attributive clause accounts for a large proportion of the total number of long and difficult sentences.In view of this,based on the definition and translation methods of attributive clause by some scholars,I have summarized it in the context of judgment: the attributive clause closely related to the antecedent is directly translated into the “de(的)” structure by using the preposition method;the long sentence with simple attributive clause or multiple attributive clauses can be translated into parallel construction;the attributive clause with obvious adverbial function should be translated into adverbial clause.In this translation report,I not only put forward some specific translation techniques to solve the corresponding problems,but also carried on the example demonstration.It is hoped that the translation of this set of cases can provide some help for translators and law students.
