The original text of this report is the excerpt of “Hollywood’s Global Deal-making Platform”.As a popular science book in legal field,this book introduces the entertainment industry and related laws and regulations in America,demonstrating the development of the industry and the history of relevant laws and regulations in advanced entertainment market such as Europe and America.Nowadays,as the entertainment industry thrives in China,numerous opportunities have emerged with related legal disputes.However,there are only a handful of legal studies about entertainment industry.Therefore,the author hopes that the translation and publication of this book will enable people to understand the development history and pattern of entertainment industry in America.As a popular science text in legal area,the source text combines two stylistic features.Legal text features strong professionalism,a large number of terminologies,abundant long and complex sentences,while popular science text is a collection of scientificness and literariness.During this translation practice,the author found that the problems encountered mainly came from the translation of noun clauses.The difficulties of noun clauses are caused by multiple nominal structure and complex clause structure.The corresponding solutions are put forward for the above two categories of difficulties in Chapter 4.For the translation of multiple nominal structure,conversion is adopted as the major translation method,which includes the conversion of part of speech and sentence components.For the translation of complex clause structure,the author mainly adopts the method of division,which includes the division with amplification and division with adjusting the sequence.
