Recently,there is an increasing demand in China for books on how to promote domestic enzyme research,raise food production and improve food’s shelf life.Translation of related texts may provide a new impetus for the relevent research in China and may also offer some references to domestic scholars who are concerned about enzyme,food production and food safty,in order to furthur improve domestic food industry.This translation report is based on FOOD INDUSTRY that is specialized in significantly biological and chemical knowledge.In this book,Chapter 14 and Chapter 16 that belong to the text of science and technology were chosen as the translation task,in which there are many tecnical terms,well defined logic and objective expressions.In the translation process,translation shifts theory was adapted to guide this translation task and some translation methods were utilized to deal with the difficulties the translator encountered.This report consists of four parts.Part 1 is the description of the translation task including the background,purpose and significance of this task.Part 2 is an introduction to the translation process,i.e.,pre-translation,in-translation and post-translation.Part 3 is about the case analysis,in which based on translation shifts theory,some translation methods such as adverbial shifts,attributive shifts,noun shifts,word transferred to word group etc.are adopted to solve those problems occurring in the translation process.Part 4 is the summary of limitations of and gains from the translation task.Through this translation task,the translator has further improved his translation ability.Moreover,the translator has been aware of his disadvantages and the importance of the professional background knowledge of the source text,and further understood the importance of the guidance role of translation theories. |
