| Academic text is one of the carriers of disciplinary knowledge.Academic text translation plays an important role in the transmission of culture and knowledge.Poetry is the introduction to British and American poetry with rigorous logic and more formal language,which is of great reference value for understanding and learning British and American poetry.There is no Chinese version of this book.This report is based on the English-Chinese translation practice of the first four sections of Chapter Seven in Poetry,which has been completed under the guidance of Relevance Theory.This report follows the principle of optimal relevance to explore academic text translation,and the translator has the dual-inferential duties in order to achieve the optimal translation.There are five parts in the report.The first part is Task Description,in which the background and requirement of the task and the features of the source text are introduced.The second part describes the translation process,including pre-translation preparation,translating and proofreading and modification.The third part introduces Relevance Theory and its application in translation.In the fourth part,the application of optimal relevance from levels of lexis,syntax and text in translating Poetry as well as the corresponding translation strategies are illustrated in detail.The last part is Conclusion.The advantages and disadvantages of the translation practice as well as the practical significance and application value are summarized and appraised for possible reference to future academic text translation. |
