| This thesis consists of three parts: the source text of Chapter 3 to Chapter 4 of the book Surrogate Humanity: Race,Robots,and the Politics of Technological Futures,its Chinese translation and the translation report.The original text is made up of six chapters,which elaborating how the robots interact with human through the integration of robots in racial capitalism,colonialism and patriarchy.Chapter three(Automation and the Invisible Service Function: Toward an ―Artificial Artificial Intelligence‖)demonstrates the impact of robots and artificial intelligence on human society from the examples of AMT,Alfred service and other platforms;and Chapter four(The Surrogate Human Affect: The Racial Programming of Robot Emotion)describes how roboticists deal with the emotion and sociality of social robots.The source text aims to convey the profound impact of technological developments,especially the emergence of automation and robots on human society.According to Reiss‘s text type theory,it can be classified as informational text,which is concerned with social science.Besides,it is featured by a lot of terms,long sentences,difficult sentences,and rigorous logic.Therefore,after analyzing the writing characteristics of the source text,the translator decides to develop translation practice under the guidance of the contrast between English and Chinese to strive for a translation of readability and accuracy.Through the translation of the source text,the same response among the target readers is given as the source language readers.At the same time,from the perspective of comparison between English and Chinese,the difficulties and key points in the translation process are analyzed,from which the translator hopes to provide more materials for related research in the future. |
