Abstract/Summary:
After Xuande abandoned Annan,he returned to the track of Ming Taizu’s unconventional strategy when dealing with the relations between the two countries.During the period of Chenghua and Hongzhi,Annan attacked neighboring countries, and the security of neighboring countries was threatened, resulting in an unstable situation in Southeast Asia.Annan also invaded the land on the border of the Ming Dynasty, but the Ming Dynasty always adhered to the ancestral motto of the "country without enlistment",and there was no war.During the Jiajing period,Annan’s chaos in Modengong posed a huge test for relations between the two countries. At the end of Zhengde, the Franco Kingdom occupied Manga and faked messengers to tribute, blocking the tributary road of Southeast Asian countries and threatening the Ming Dynasty’s coastal areas. When Jiajing paid tribute to Japan in the second year, the Ningbo tribute incident occurred. The behavior of the tributary country made Ming Shizong very vigilant to the tributes of overseas countries, and ordered the strict observance of the sea ban to restrict foreign exchanges between China and China. After Zhengde and Jiajing, the number of overseas tributes to the Ming tributary dropped sharply, the official exchanges between the Ming Dynasty and overseas countries decreased, and the tributary relationship turned into a low tide.In the fifteen years of Jiajing, the Ming Dynasty began to pay attention to the Modengong incident in Annan.Modengong usurped the power of the Li dynasty, and there was a confrontation between Li Mo and Annan. The Ming Dynasty did not send troops to attack Annan, but instead recognized Mo’s tributary status. The handling of the Modengong incident during the Jiajing period is a manifestation that the Ming Dynasty paid more attention to its own interests.Although Mohs was enshrined as Annan’s commander-in-chief and nominally regained his authority over Annan,it is still actually two countries, which laid hidden dangers for later handling of relations between the two countries.During the Wanli period, the Li dynasty revived and defeated the Mo dynasty.Regarding how to handle the relationship between the two countries, the Ming Dynasty was faced with a choice.During the Three Great Expeditions in the Wanli Period,Li asked Feng to face the Ming Dynasty. The northern border of the Ming Dynasty faced serious border problems. The Japanese invasion of North Korea threatened the capital of the Ming Dynasty. The MingDynasty could only focus on national defense in the north and take peaceful measures against the south.Because of the Jiajing dynasty’s experience in handling the Modengong incident,a double recognition policy was formulated and used by the Qing dynasty. The Modengong incident has an important impact on the development of Ming’an relations.Local officials from Guangdong and Guangxi have become increasingly familiar with border affairs, and their role in handling Ming-An relations has been increasing. The Ming Dynasty’s insistence on the ideal of the tributary system in its diplomatic exchanges has been steadily declining, and it has paid more attention to practical interests when solving foreign problems.During Jiajing period, the influence of the Ming Dynasty in Southeast Asia weakened, which also had an impact on the tributary system of the Ming Dynasty in Southeast Asia and the situation in Southeast Asia.
