| The Tai Rice Culture is a great academic work which provides an overall introduction about the Tai rice culture,which includes the origin of rice,Baiyue culture,and some great stories,language and beliefs of this culture.As of now,there are few translation work studying the academic work of Thailand.Therefore,translating this book could provide some complementary information for the nationalities researchers.This report is to analyze how translator’s subjectivity was inflected and make impact on the translation work by using case analysis method,based on Chapter 1 to Chapter 3 of The Tai Rice Culture.The translation methods are examined and summarized by the author,it is found that the translation work would be influenced by factors as follow: the author’s educational background,intellectual and cultural reserve.As a translator,he/she has to be capable of choosing the suitable translation method,literal translation,free translation,transliteration,transliteration with interpretation could be applied when translating words.On the other hand,the translator needs to know whether he/she should reduce/add explanation,translate text in the same or different sentences,sometimes the order of the words need to be adjusted in the sentences. |
