In traditional Chinese opera,there is a common phenomenon of poemsembedding.These poems participate in all aspects of opera presentation and have a profound impact on the construction of opera style.This paper is mainly from the following parts:The introduction first introduces the significance and current situation of the research,as well as the research methods and innovations.The paper takes the four famous classical Chinese dramas as the main research text,and systematically discusses the existing condition of the poems in the traditional Chinese opera,as well as the related works in Thirty kinds of Zaju Printed in the Yuan-Dynasty and Sixty Traditional Opera.It abandons the large-scale works such as the Opera of the Yuan-Dynasty,and the research object is the poetry,excluding the Ciand Qu.The first chapter mainly summarizes the existing condition of poems in traditional Chinese opera.First of all,it discusses the formation and development of poetry as a form of opera language;secondly,according to the form of poetry application in the script structure,it is divided into four parts:entering poems,exiting poems,final poems and poems in the spoken parts,focusing on their respective performance in the three kinds of opera and the role they play in the text.The second chapter mainly studies the influence of poetry on the form of opera text.The first section explores how poetry participates in the shaping of characters.First of all,the lyric function of poetry helps the opera better shape the personality lyric subject.The description of scenery in poetry helps to create the lyric environment inside the text,and the rhetorical devices of “Bi Xing” of poetry helps to show the obscure lyric psychology.Secondly,poetry participates in the shaping of multiple narrative subjects of opera.The use of poetry in opera makes the language of the narrative subject more meaningful,and provides a place for the subject to change the narrative perspective,opening up the space of aesthetic interpretation.The second section explores the relationship between poetry and the plot structure of the Chinese opera.The first is the relationship between poetry and structure of Chinese opera.The opera takes poetry as the connecting point of the plot.Some of the entering poems and exiting poems assume the function of the outline of the plot.At the same time,the exiting poems connects the preceding and the following characters,and leads thefollowing characters on the stage.The poem specifically embodies the density of the organization of the relevant items of the Chinese opera.Meanwhile,the exiting poems summarize the previous situation,and the final poems summarize the whole drama and comment on the characters,highlighting the "main brain" of the Chinese opera.The poems bear the beauty of the form andthe beauty of the construction of architectural of the Chinese opera.Second is the relationship between poetry and the plot of Chinese opera.The arrangement of events in Chinese traditional opera is like the arrangement of images in poetry,which is connected with the emotional psychology of characters as the axis;the emergence of poetry in opera has the function of slowing down the narrative rhythm,which to a certain extent dispels the concentration and tension of drama conflicts,reflecting the fullness of Chinese traditional opera’s emotional pulse and the pursuit of harmony and slow theatricality.The third section explores the role of poetry in the performance on the stage of Chinese opera.Under the influence of poetry,the stage setting of Chinese opera shows the feature of virtualitythat mainly concentrate on creating artistic conception.The stage action of Chinese opera is more as the footnotes of language.Its relatively fixed formula,combined with the emotional psychology,experience and aesthetic concept of each subject,shows different meanings,and the feature of imagery.The lyricism of action’s narrative function also contributes to the implicit emotional pursuit of the theatricality of Chinese opera.The third chapter focuses on the stylistic characteristics of Chinese operaunder the influence of poetry.Poetry’s comprehensive and in-depth participation in Chinese opera has influenced the formation of opera’s life-practice noumenon,and has become a poetic narrative style,showing a strong conscious of history.Finally,the conclusion summarizes the above,and extends the conclusion of the study to explore the applicability of Western drama theory to Chinese opera style under the mechanism of poetry-essay integration.
