| With the development of China’s economy and improvement of its international status,more and more international students have chosen China as their destination for further study.As a core city of central China,Wuhan,known as a “thoroughfare of nine provinces,” has attracted lots of international students.Hubei Provincial Museum is a carrier of Chu culture,which has invited many international students to visit.This practice report is an escort interpretation in Hubei Provincial Museum.The author adopts Gile’s Effort Model to guide this practice.The Effort Model shows that interpreters need to satisfy the total effort requirements of interpreting and coordinate the effort distribution in different stages so as to meet the requirements of multitasking processing and ultimately ensure the accomplishment of the task.Through this effort model,interpreters can constantly discuss the effectiveness of their effort allocations and how to achieve the best interpretation effect with limited effort.Under the guidance of Gile’s effort model,this report analyzes the causes of imbalanced effort distribution in the interpretation scene.Difficulties and problems in listening and analysis,short-term memory,note-taking,and production are mainly analyzed.Moreover,the author lists some measures which have been adopted to solve these problems.The practice does not go as smoothly as expected due to the long interpretation time,limited experience,and insufficient capacity.Through listening to the playback,the interpreter concludes the expertise and lessons to provide suggestions on how to avoid imbalanced effort distribution in future interpretations. |
